[Asia Economy Reporter Kim Bo-kyung] The Korea Importers Association (KOIMA) announced on the 25th that it signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with the Korea-Africa Foundation at its headquarters in Bangbae-dong, Seoul, to promote economic cooperation and trade between Korea and Africa.
The Korea Importers Association is an import-specialized economic organization under the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy, established in 1970. The Korea-Africa Foundation was launched in 2018 under the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to contribute to enhancing a comprehensive and future-oriented partnership with the African continent amid rapidly changing international circumstances.
Kim Byung-kwan, chairman of the Importers Association, stated, "We will strive to expand information exchange and business opportunities between Korea and Africa."
Chairman Kim also urged active promotion to encourage African companies to participate in the Import Goods Exhibition, a global sourcing specialized trade show scheduled for June, to showcase excellent products.
Yeo Woon-gi, chairman of the Korea-Africa Foundation, said, "We look forward to active cooperation and Africa-related events between the two organizations."
