[Asia Economy Reporter Seungjin Lee] Kakao's 'Daum' mail system was restored to normal about 7 hours after a failure occurred on the 21st.
According to Kakao, from around 9:12 a.m. to 4 p.m. that day, delays in sending and receiving emails were observed in the Daum mail service.
Daum posted a notice on the mail homepage stating that there were "delays in receiving all external domain emails," "delays or failures in sending some emails," and "intermittent connection failures with imap and smtp."
IMAP is an internet standard communication protocol used for reading emails, and SMTP is a standard communication protocol used for sending emails.
Daum said, "We sincerely apologize once again for the inconvenience caused in using the service. We will do our best to provide a more stable service in the future."
