April 22 World Earth Day Campaign
For Companies: "Let's Practice Green Actions Together"
[Asia Economy Reporter Kim Young-won] Milal Welfare Foundation Giving Plus announced on the 22nd that it will conduct the 'YES GREEN' campaign in celebration of World Earth Day.
The YES GREEN campaign is aimed at companies interested in eco-friendly practices such as ESG management, encouraging them to take green actions together for the Earth. The Ministry of Environment and Korea Environment Corporation are collaborating on the campaign.
Giving Plus proposes 'E·S·G Green Actions' to turn back the environmental crisis clock. The environmental crisis clock represents the global environmental and climate crisis levels divided into four stages?Good, Unstable, Serious, and Dangerous?from 0:00 to 12:00 noon. The closer to 12:00, the higher the pollution level. Last year, South Korea's environmental crisis clock was at 9:38, indicating a 'Dangerous' level.
Green actions for Environment include first donating 'Net Zero' goods. Net Zero means balancing carbon emissions and absorption to achieve zero net carbon emissions. Companies can participate in environmental protection by donating goods to Giving Plus, contributing to carbon reduction.
Green actions for Social involve participating in sharing activities for local communities. This includes hosting sharing bazaars with Giving Plus or delivering 'Jasang Han Sangja,' a livelihood support kit, to marginalized neighbors. It is also possible to help create jobs for vulnerable groups such as people with disabilities and seniors at Giving Plus stores through sales proceeds from donated goods.
Green actions related to Governance involve operating an 'ESG Advisory Committee.' Giving Plus formed Korea's first ESG advisory committee among NGOs. Giving Plus plans to support sustainable co-growth of companies and society by providing consulting to companies seeking ESG management.
Companies wishing to participate in the campaign can apply through the YES GREEN online campaign page. The campaign included Giving Plus ambassadors Yoon Taek and his son Lim Ha-im. Lim Ha-im said, "I hope the Earth no longer suffers and stays healthy," adding, "I will also practice green actions in my daily life."
To promote the campaign, a social network service (SNS) campaign will also be conducted. After practicing green actions, participants can upload certification photos with hashtags on SNS and receive gifticons and other rewards through a lottery.
