[Asia Economy Reporter Naju-seok] Kwon Seong-dong, floor leader of the People Power Party, repeatedly proposed an 'unlimited TV debate' to Park Hong-geun, floor leader of the Democratic Party of Korea, on the 21st regarding the Complete Removal of Prosecutorial Investigation Rights (검수완박) law.
Through social media (SNS) on the same day, Floor Leader Kwon stated, "The Democratic Party has declared the forced passage of the '검수완박' law," and criticized, "Over the past five years, there has been so much corruption that the criminal justice system, which resolves the grievances of the people and prevents criminals from making huge profits through unfair gains, is being dismantled to this extent."
He pointed out, "The criminal justice system, even with very slight loopholes, causes innocent citizens to suffer irreparable damage while criminals escape through those gaps. This is why revisions to the criminal justice system, which is the foundation of the nation, must be made with utmost caution," and added, "The '검수완박' bill, proposed by Floor Leader Park, is highly inappropriate in terms of speed, content, and timing."
Floor Leader Kwon said, "I once again propose an unlimited TV debate to Democratic Party Floor Leader Park Hong-geun," promising, "I will participate at the time and in the manner that Floor Leader Park Hong-geun desires, as early as this weekend."
Quoting Floor Leader Park's remark that "elected officials must approach their duties with an attitude of being thoroughly scrutinized by the people," he urged, "Withdraw the forced passage in the plenary session that will leave a lasting stain in the history of the Republic of Korea's constitutional history, and come up to the judgment of the people."
