[Asia Economy reporters Ki-min Lee and Byung-don Yoo] The Presidential Transition Committee announced on the 21st that it plans to build a platform to integrate and manage multiple government public proposal reception websites that currently operate separately.

Heo Seong-woo, head of the Transition Committee's Public Proposal Center, said at a briefing held at the committee's office in Tongui-dong, Seoul, that morning, "Complaints have been received about confusion regarding where and how to submit public proposals," explaining the plan.

The central government currently operates the Blue House National Petition, the Ministry of the Interior and Safety's Gwanghwamun 1st Street, and the Anti-Corruption and Civil Rights Commission's People's Sinmungo and People's Idea Box. Local governments also run separate public proposal websites, leading to user inconvenience and inefficiency.

Heo said, "We decided to more closely examine the existing complaint proposal channels and unify them into a single, easy-to-use channel for submitting proposals," adding, "We proposed that the entire system be transferred from the Transition Committee to the Presidential Office, and this was accepted."

Heo also explained the new integrated public proposal platform by citing the example of the Public Proposal Center currently operated by the Transition Committee. The center receives complaints divided into eight categories, similar to how banks separate reception counters, and provides customized consultations for complainants.

However, Heo drew a line when asked whether the Blue House National Petition system from the Moon Jae-in administration would be immediately merged or abolished by the new government.

He stated, "The National Petition system requires 200,000 signatures for the Blue House to respond, and while there are inconveniences for the public related to this, more importantly, many proposals that do not reach 200,000 signatures are discarded. We intend to review all of them," emphasizing, "We will not abolish or eliminate it immediately."

He added, "This is a step to transfer the scattered public proposal websites from various ministries and local governments to the Presidential Office, operate them, and improve and integrate the system institutionally if necessary."
