Yoon Bong-geun, Gwangsan-gu Mayor Candidate in Gwangju, Proposes Life-Oriented Pledges

[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Park Jin-hyung] Yoon Bong-geun, a preliminary candidate for mayor of Gwangsan District, Gwangju Metropolitan City from the Democratic Party of Korea, has presented election pledges closely related to daily life.

On the 20th, Candidate Yoon released a press statement saying, "Instead of making unrealistic, showy pledges, I will open an era of happiness for district residents with practical, customized pledges closely connected to residents' daily lives."

Candidate Yoon criticized the indiscriminate pledges of candidates, saying, "Every candidate becomes Superman only during elections," and "District administration is not a magic lamp that can be executed instantly."

As pledges related to residents' lives, he promised to nurture global talents through the Education Internationalization Special Zone, expand childcare services at national and public daycare centers, and provide a 'Youth Hope Allowance' for young people to prepare for unemployment caused by technological development.

Additionally, as projects to improve residents' lives, he proposed "support for installation costs of food waste processors and early establishment of a smart health management system as a health guardian."

For "services that care with the heart rather than just using the head," he promised to establish a civil service branch office in the northeastern part of Gwangsan to handle necessary civil complaints first, rather than spending much time and cost on establishing a second government building.

Candidate Yoon, a native of Gwangsan, has served as a teacher, district council member, chairman of the Gwangju Metropolitan City Education Committee, chairman of the Gwangju Metropolitan City Council, chairman of the National Council of Chairpersons of Local Governments, and a National Communication Committee member of the Presidential Committee on Balanced National Development under President Moon Jae-in.

Currently, he is actively working as a member of the Administrative Coordination Committee of the Prime Minister's Office, moving between central and local governments, and is evaluated to have high recognition and solid support as a former standing election committee chairman for Representative Lee Yong-bin.
