Contributing to Enhancing the Status of Muju Taekwondo
[Muju=Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kim Han-ho] Muju-gun announced on the 20th that the athletes belonging to the Muju-gun Student Taekwondo Demonstration Team are enhancing the reputation of Muju-gun, the global Taekwondo sanctuary, by ranking high in various competitions.
According to the county, at the '32nd Yongin University President's National Taekwondo Competition' held at the indoor gymnasium in Cheorwon-gun, Gangwon-do until the 23rd, Choi Hyo-young (Muju Middle School) ranked first in aerial jump breaking, girls' middle school overall breaking, and girls' middle school overall category, and was selected as the outstanding female middle school athlete.
Coach Ha Seok received the Coaching Award (jointly awarded by the President of the Korea Taekwondo Association and the President of Yongin University) in recognition of his excellent leadership.
Also, at the '2022 Cheorwon National Taekwondo Demonstration Competition' held at the indoor gymnasium in Cheorwon, Gangwon-do from the 30th of last month to the 3rd of this month, Kim Geon-bin (Muju Middle School) ranked 3rd in aerial jump breaking, Jeon Yi-kyung (Muju Middle School) ranked 3rd in aerial jump breaking and 2nd in vertical axis rotation breaking.
Additionally, Choi Hyo-young (Muju Middle School) ranked 2nd in aerial jump breaking and 3rd in vertical axis rotation breaking, Kim Ha-yeon (Anseong Middle School) ranked 1st in both aerial jump breaking and vertical axis rotation breaking, and Kim Kang-min (Seolcheon Middle School) ranked 2nd in aerial jump breaking.
Lee Do-woo, president of the Muju-gun Taekwondo Association and general director, said, "The skills of the team members, honed over time, have been demonstrated through this competition," and added, "We will continue to do our best to improve the skills of the members and nurture young talents to further elevate the status of Muju as the Taekwondo sanctuary."
Meanwhile, the Muju-gun Student Taekwondo Demonstration Team, composed of elementary, middle, and high school students from the Muju area, was founded in December 2007 and has played a role in promoting Muju-gun through events such as the Firefly Festival and overseas demonstration performances.
