Jeong Da-eun, a member of the Strategic Nomination Management Committee, stated on her social media service (SNS) on the same day, "Just now, the Strategic Nomination Management Committee decided to exclude former leader Song Young-gil and lawmaker Park Joo-min from the selection of the Seoul mayoral candidate," adding, "I opposed it but it was insufficient. I hereby resign from my position as a member of the Strategic Nomination Management Committee. I hope the voices of party members will be conveyed to the Emergency Response Committee."

Former lawmaker Son Hye-won also conveyed via SNS, "Lee Won-wook, the chairman of the Strategic Nomination Committee, called former leader Song and apologized, informing him of the decision to exclude him from the nomination," and asked, "Is this for real?"

A Democratic Party official also confirmed, "I understand that Chairman Lee contacted former leader Song."

However, as mentioned by member Jeong, the Democratic Party is known to hold the position that the Strategic Nomination Committee's decision could be overturned after discussions by the Emergency Response Committee. Some supporters within the party are voicing that despite former leader Song's responsibility in the last presidential election, he and others should step forward.
