Held at Seoul COEX from 20th to 22nd
SKT also introduces AI semiconductor 'Sapeon'
KT showcases transportation infrastructure DX services, etc.
[Asia Economy Reporter Cha Min-young] SK Telecom and KT will showcase innovative technologies such as Urban Air Mobility (UAM) and robots at 'World IT Show 2022,' the largest domestic information and communication technology (ICT) exhibition, held at COEX in Seoul from the 20th to the 22nd.
On the 19th, SK Telecom announced that it will set up an exhibition hall under the theme of 'a surreal experience in a world without boundaries between reality and virtuality,' unveiling technologies and ESG (environment, social, corporate governance) services including artificial intelligence (AI), metaverse (extended virtual world), and UAM.
At this exhibition, SK Telecom will introduce its self-developed AI semiconductor for data centers called 'Sapeon.' AI semiconductors play a key role as the brain that performs large-scale computations required for AI services at ultra-high speed and low power consumption. Visitors can verify the excellence of Sapeon through a demonstration comparing the data processing speed of Sapeon and GPUs (graphics processing units) developed by leading global semiconductor companies.
Visitors can also upgrade photos they take themselves to high resolution using the 'Supernova' app, which improves media quality through AI technology, installed on smartphones. They can enjoy an experience of boarding a UAM by sitting in a 360-degree rotating simulator wearing virtual reality (VR) devices.
Through the assistive service for the visually impaired, 'Sullivan Plus x NUGU,' visitors can receive voice guidance on objects, people, and text recognized by the smartphone camera, experiencing a 'barrier-free service' (a service usable by both disabled and non-disabled people).
KT has prepared an exhibition hall under the theme 'Digital Innovation of the Lives of Korean People, DIGICO KT,' unveiling digital transformation (DX) services from its group companies and partners. KT’s intelligent traffic infrastructure DX solution 'Traffic Digital Twin,' introduced this time, detects and analyzes traffic conditions using only CCTV and guides the optimal signal system according to the situation.
An AI disinfection robot that sterilizes viruses and bacteria in the air will also be exhibited for the first time at a domestic event. The next-generation home terminal 'S-Box,' which integrates home Wi-Fi supporting 6 GHz frequency, an Android TV set-top box, and an AI platform, will be unveiled. Intelligent Internet of Things (AIoT) electric wheelchairs supporting autonomous driving and warehouse logistics DX solutions will also welcome visitors.
Small and medium-sized partner company Abacus will present a 'multi-party smart contract platform' for small business owners, and FRTech will introduce a 'millimeter-wave (mmWave) repeater' providing 5G 28 GHz mobile communication service. T.I.Square will showcase 'SafeCAM,' a smart safety solution capable of real-time monitoring and video transmission using body cameras.
