Gokseong-gun, Retired Public Officials' Talent Donation Volunteer Service Receives Positive Response from Residents

[Gokseong=Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters, Reporter Cha Jong-sun] Gokseong-gun, Jeollanam-do announced that retired public officials are continuing to participate in talent donation for the region’s representative welfare service, the ‘Visiting Hope Welfare Mobile Service.’

The Hope Welfare Mobile Service refers to providing welfare services by visiting remote villages where residents live every Thursday.

Representative services provided include agricultural machinery repair, traditional Korean and Western medical treatment, electrical and fire safety inspections, mobile laundry and mobile bathing, massage services, knife sharpening, eyeglass repair, customized counseling, women’s employment counseling, pest control and disinfection services, and self-support employment counseling.

Notably, starting this year, the ‘Darimdol Volunteer Group,’ composed of retired public officials from Gokseong-gun, has been working alongside the Hope Welfare Mobile Service.

The volunteer group that previously provided knife sharpening services was unable to participate this year due to circumstances.

Upon hearing this, retired public officials stepped forward to personally donate their knife sharpening skills and joined the service team starting in March.

The Darimdol Volunteer Group, based on the diligence ingrained during their public service careers, is maintaining knives, scissors, and other tools.

Residents have responded enthusiastically to the sight of the volunteers sweating in work clothes instead of suits.

Recently, the Darimdol Volunteer Group has expanded its talent donation to include massage services.

An expert, Mr. A, among the retired public officials, who holds certifications such as Level 2 Sports Massage, Level 2 Chiropractic (Chuna Therapy), Level 2 Exercise Prescription Specialist, and Level 3 Yoga Instructor, has lent his support.

Mr. A said, “Even after retirement, I wanted to serve the community.

I joined the Hope Welfare Mobile Service for the elderly who are like my own mother and father.”

A Gokseong-gun official said, “The more diverse participants there are, the more happiness the Hope Welfare Mobile Service can deliver to residents.

We hope that the participation of these senior public officials will continue to inspire junior public officials as well.”
