[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Choi Soon-kyung] The People Power Party Gyeongnam Provincial Party has decided on the primary elections for the Geochang County Governor and Hapcheon County Governor.

The People Power Party announced the first round of primary election regions and candidates for basic local government heads on the 18th.

The Geochang County Governor candidate was decided through a primary between the current governor Gu In-mo and Choi Ki-bong, former secretary to the Governor of Gyeongnam Province. The Hapcheon County Governor primary was narrowed down to a "three-way race."

The People Power Party Gyeongnam Provincial Party Nomination Management Committee held a meeting on the 18th and announced on the 19th that, after document and interview evaluations, they had decided the first round of primary election regions and candidates for basic local government heads.

For the Geochang County Governor candidate, the primary will be held between the current Geochang County Governor Gu In-mo, who previously served as Director of the Culture, Tourism, and Sports Bureau of Gyeongnam Province, and Choi Ki-bong, Deputy Chairman of the Gyeongnam Provincial Party, who formerly served as Secretary to the Governor of Gyeongnam Province.

For Hapcheon County Governor, three candidates were named for the primary: Kim Seong-tae, president of the Hapcheon County Volleyball Association and chairman of the Hapcheon County International Exchange Council; Kim Yoon-cheol, Deputy Chairman of the Gyeongnam Provincial Party and former member of the 8th and 11th Gyeongnam Provincial Assembly; and Park Jung-moo, Hapcheon County Assembly member and former head of the Hapcheon Livestock Cooperative.
