Gurye-gun Minimizes Tourist Inconvenience by Implementing Traffic Measures at Major Attractions

[Gurye=Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters, Reporter Yuk Miseok] On the 18th, Gurye-gun, Jeollanam-do announced that it will prepare measures to revitalize tourism using flower resources that start with Sansuyu flowers, followed by cherry blossoms, wild mustard flowers, and arboretums.

Acting Governor Lee Gwang-dong held a policy discussion meeting with department heads and emphasized the thorough promotion of current tasks such as tourism revitalization using Gurye-gun’s representative resources, including Sansuyu flowers, cherry blossoms, and wild mustard flowers.

At the discussion, Acting Governor Lee instructed the preparation of traffic measures to minimize inconvenience to tourists, judged the Sansuyu flower drone video and photo contest, reviewed expanding the attendance scope at the 78th Jirisan Namak Festival rites, promoted changes in the COVID-19 quarantine system, and ordered thorough self-inspection of facility safety, urging active county administration.

Since last month, Gurye-gun has been attracting tourists with various flower-themed natural resources, starting with Sansuyu flowers, cherry blossoms, and wild mustard flowers.

Last week, the abundant cherry blossoms captivated many tourists, and so many visitors came to Gurye that traffic paralysis occurred around Muncheok-myeon, Ganjeon-myeon, and Gwangui-myeon areas.

In the Sansuyu flower area, which was already a famous tourist resource, traffic measures were prepared in advance to minimize inconvenience to tourists.

However, in other areas, the demand far exceeded prior predictions, increasing inconvenience due to traffic congestion, and it was judged that urgent countermeasures are needed.

Recently, Gurye’s wild mustard flowers and arboretum have been spotlighted as hot places, and especially with most of the regulation-centered COVID-19 social distancing measures lifted from the 18th, it is expected that many more tourists will visit. Therefore, they plan to actively prepare traffic measures to more precisely predict tourism demand in advance and minimize inconvenience.

Acting Governor Lee Gwang-dong said, “Establish relay tourist attractions using flowers and strategically promote them through commercialization,” and ordered, “Prepare traffic measures not only for special periods but also for all four seasons.”

Meanwhile, since last week, wild mustard flowers have bloomed around the Seomjin River Bamboo Forest Trail, welcoming Gurye tourists, and as it has recently emerged as a hot place, it is showing off its charm as a tourist attraction.
