Senior Spokesperson Kim Hyeong-dong: "We will do our best to ensure proper training leads to real combat"
[Asia Economy Reporter Naju-seok] The People Power Party stated on the 17th, regarding North Korea's 13th armed provocation this year, that "we must demonstrate the strength of our security through the South Korea-U.S. joint military exercises."
Kim Hyung-dong, the chief spokesperson for the People Power Party, commented officially on the same day about North Korea's successive missile launches, saying, "The repeated missile provocations by North Korea, to the extent that they feel routine, are even more concerning. Especially yesterday, it was unusual that North Korea's state media itself announced Chairman Kim Jong-un's attendance and the successful launch, so it requires close monitoring."
He warned, "North Korea must realize that such provocative acts threaten peace on the Korean Peninsula, lead to isolation in the international community, and ultimately bring about internal difficulties including economic hardships."
Regarding the delayed disclosure of North Korea's missile launch after North Korea's public announcement, Spokesperson Kim criticized, "Although it is the government's duty to promptly and thoroughly explain threats to our people, the military's neglect in this matter inevitably raises suspicions that they are taking the situation too lightly and cannot avoid criticism for increasing public anxiety."
About the upcoming South Korea-U.S. joint military exercises starting tomorrow, Spokesperson Kim said, "Through thorough training, we must establish a strong security posture and make North Korea realize that its threats and intimidation are wrong choices." He added, "Furthermore, under the Yoon Suk-yeol administration's principle that 'an army that does not train is meaningless,' we will do our best to ensure that proper training leads to real combat readiness."
