Incumbent Premium Contest ... Democratic Party of Korea Gyeongnam Provincial Party Confirms 6 Mayoral and County Head Candidates for June Local Elections

Heo Seong-mu, Kang Seok-ju, Byeon Gwang-yong, Jang Chung-nam, Baek Du-hyun, Hwang In-seong Advance to Finals

[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Lee Seryeong] The Democratic Party of Korea's Gyeongnam Provincial Party announced the candidates for basic local government heads running in the nationwide local elections this June.

The Gyeongnam Provincial Party's Public Office Election Candidate Recommendation Management Committee announced on the 15th that it had finalized the list of six basic local government head candidates.

For Changwon mayoral candidate, the current Mayor Heo Seong-mu was selected, and for Tongyeong mayoral candidate, the current Mayor Kang Seok-ju was chosen.

The candidate for Geoje mayor is Mayor Byeon Gwang-yong, Namhae County head is County Chief Jang Chung-nam, and for Goseong County head, County Chief Baek Du-hyun will run.

Most are incumbent local government heads, and for the Sacheon mayoral election, former Blue House Senior Secretary for Civil Society Hwang In-seong was decided as the candidate.

In the Gimhae area, current Mayor Heo Seong-gon, running for re-election, former Gyeongnam Provincial Deputy Governor Park Seong-ho, and Gong Yun-kwon, Operating Committee Member of the Roh Moo-hyun Foundation Gyeongnam Regional Committee, have declared their candidacies.

In Yangsan, Mayor Kim Il-kwon, former Yangsan City Urban Construction Director Park Jong-seo, former city council members Park Jae-woo, Park Dae-jo, former provincial council member Kim Seong-hoon, and former city council members Im Jeong-seop and Seo Jin-bu are competing for the nomination.

The Nomination Management Committee plans to finalize candidates for the remaining areas such as Gimhae and Yangsan soon after interviews and evaluations.

On the 14th, the central party's nomination committee conducted interviews with former Tongyeong-Goseong Regional Chairman Yang Moon-seok and provincial council member Shin Sang-hoon, who are running for Gyeongnam governor, and plans to complete the candidate selection within this month.
