Gwangjin-gu, 2023 Public-Private Cooperation Project Agenda Call for Proposals

[Asia Economy Reporter Park Jong-il] Gwangjin-gu (District Mayor Kim Seon-gap) will hold a public contest for the ‘2023 Gwangjin-gu Public-Private Cooperation Project Agenda’ targeting Gwangjin-gu residents and local organizations from April 14 to May 31.

The public-private cooperation project is significant in that, unlike previous projects led and executed solely by the administration, residents participate in the entire process of planning, execution, and evaluation, allowing the public and private sectors to jointly discover, improve, and solve community issues.

The ‘2023 Gwangjin-gu Public-Private Cooperation Project Agenda Contest’ is open to Gwangjin-gu residents and local organizations, who can submit various public-interest agendas that can be promoted through cooperation between the public and private sectors to solve community problems.

Applications can be submitted from April 14 to May 31 via the district website (Participation & Communication → Cooperative Gwangjin → Together Cooperation), by email, or by visiting the Public-Private Cooperation Team in the Planning and Budget Division of Gwangjin-gu Office.

Submitted project agendas will undergo feasibility review, public forums, and resident opinion collection through e-voting, followed by approval from the cooperation council to finalize the selected projects. The final selected projects will be promoted as the 2023 Gwangjin-gu Public-Private Cooperation Projects.

For more details, please refer to the Gwangjin-gu Office website or contact the Public-Private Cooperation Team in the Planning and Budget Division.

Gwangjin-gu, 2023 Public-Private Cooperation Project Agenda Call for Proposals Body Composition Measurement

Yongsan-gu (District Mayor Seong Jang-hyun) is operating the ‘100 Days of Miracle’ program aimed at fostering a healthy organizational culture.

The ‘100 Days of Miracle’ participants are employees belonging to Yongsan-gu. This body health care project involves checking the current physical condition through health measurement (InBody test) and awarding prize money to employees who achieve their goals after 100 days.

On the 21st and 22nd of last month, 211 hopeful employees completed body composition tests. The district will measure body composition again on June 28 and 29, which mark 100 days from the start date, and select 10 employees (5 men and 5 women) with the highest scores. Results will be announced in July, and prize money ranging from 100,000 to 300,000 KRW will be awarded per person.

The evaluation criteria include four categories: weight change, skeletal muscle mass, body fat percentage, and InBody score. Each category’s change is converted into a percentage and weighted equally at 25%. For example, a man weighing 80kg with 35kg skeletal muscle mass, 20% body fat, and an InBody score of 60 who changes after 100 days to 75kg (-6.25%), 37kg skeletal muscle mass (+5.71%), 14% body fat (-30%), and an InBody score of 70 (+16.67%) would earn a total of 14.66 points.

A district official said, “Over the past two years, external activities were restricted due to COVID-19, and the number of employees gaining weight increased. To encourage participation, we raised the maximum prize money from 100,000 KRW last year to 300,000 KRW.”

The district has been running the 100 Days of Miracle program for five years since 2017. The number of final participants increased yearly: 44 in 2017, 46 in 2018, 63 in 2019, 78 in 2020, and 95 in 2021.

Yongsan-gu Mayor Seong Jang-hyun said, “Public officials need to be healthy to provide smooth public services. We will do our best to promote physical and mental health among members to foster a healthy organizational culture.”

Gwangjin-gu, 2023 Public-Private Cooperation Project Agenda Call for Proposals

Dong-gu (District Mayor Jeong Won-oh) is supporting gas timer cocks for vulnerable groups to prevent fire safety accidents.

The gas timer cock, a gas safety shut-off device, automatically cuts off the gas valve after a preset time. By simply pressing a button to set the desired gas usage time, the gas valve automatically closes at the set time. Voice alerts sound 5 minutes before and at the end of the set time to confirm whether the gas valve has been shut off.

To prevent accidents caused by careless gas use, such as leaving food on the gas stove and going out, the district selected vulnerable groups including dementia patients and elderly citizens as support targets.

Dementia patients registered at the Seongdong-gu Dementia Safety Center and vulnerable groups such as recipients of livelihood benefits and disabled persons aged 70 or older among Seongdong-gu residents will receive full installation cost support of 100,000 KRW, while other Seongdong-gu residents aged 70 or older will receive 80% support, amounting to 80,000 KRW, on a first-come, first-served basis.

Applicants can download the submission form from the announcement section of the Seongdong-gu Office website, fill it out, and submit it in person to the Clean Environment Division of Seongdong-gu Office.

Seongdong-gu, which enacted the first ordinance among Seoul’s autonomous districts regarding support for gas timer cock distribution in September 2020, has been distributing and supporting gas timer cocks since last year. In 2021, it supported a total of 250 households of dementia patients and low-income elderly aged 70 or older, receiving high praise from recipients. This year, the district plans to actively identify and support eligible recipients to safely prepare against gas accidents.

Seongdong-gu Mayor Jeong Won-oh said, “We encourage active applications for the gas timer cock distribution project, which provides safety devices to households vulnerable to gas safety issues to prevent fires caused by gas in advance. We will continue to strive to provide various administrative services for daily safety.”
