[Asia Economy Reporter Kim Heeyoon] The film "Broker," starring Song Kang-ho, Gang Dong-won, Bae Doona, and IU, has been selected for the competition section at the Cannes Film Festival.

On the 14th (local time), the Cannes International Film Festival Secretariat held an official press conference and announced the official selection list for the 75th Cannes Film Festival. "Broker" (directed by Koreeda Hirokazu) was officially invited to the competition section of the Cannes Film Festival.

"Broker" is Koreeda Hirokazu's first Korean film as a director, drawing attention for its warm portrayal of the lives of marginalized and unprotected individuals.

The film features a golden lineup of Korea's representative actors, attracting attention from the production stage: Song Kang-ho as Sang-hyun, a self-proclaimed benevolent broker who tries to find the right person to raise a baby; Gang Dong-won as Dong-soo, Sang-hyun's partner; Bae Doona as Su-jin, a detective who persistently pursues the broker's journey; Lee Ji-eun as So-young, a mother who left a baby in a baby box with unknown reasons for leaving and returning; and Lee Joo-young as Detective Lee, a junior detective chasing the broker alongside Su-jin.

This year's Cannes Film Festival will open on May 17 and run until May 28, taking place throughout Cannes, France.
