[Asia Economy Reporter Jongil Park] A total of 22 people, including former Seocho District Council Chairman Choi Jeong-gyu, have declared their support for Hwang In-sik, the preliminary candidate for Seocho District Mayor.

Hwang In-sik, who announced his candidacy for Seocho District Mayor in the June 1 local elections (March 30, 2022), concluded a total of 25 years of public service, including 11 years in Seocho District and 14 years in Seoul City, and is nurturing a dream of a new start in Seocho District, his administrative hometown.

Accordingly, former Seocho District Council members declared their support, expecting Hwang In-sik to return to Seocho District and serve as the best district mayor for a new leap forward for Seocho.

Choi Jeong-gyu, former chairman of the 6th Seocho District Council, said, “Hwang In-sik, the preliminary candidate for Seocho District Mayor, shared precious memories and meaningful times of joy and sorrow with the Seocho District Council. Even when there were conflicts between the council and the executive branch, he led agreements sometimes through logic and sometimes through appeals for harmony, always working for the residents and striving to make Seocho better. He remains deeply engraved in our hearts as a young leader,” expressing his support for Hwang In-sik.

He also evaluated, “Despite holding various key positions in Seoul City, he was always humble. Whenever I visited his office to resolve Seocho area complaints, he always welcomed me warmly and was a true model public official who cared for the difficulties of local residents as if they were his own tomorrow.”

In response, preliminary candidate Hwang In-sik expressed joy, saying, “The declaration of support from former Seocho District Council members has given great momentum to my steps toward becoming Seocho District Mayor,” and pledged, “If elected and inaugurated as Seocho District Mayor, I will firmly join hands with the council to make Seocho District better.”
