Gwangju Buk-gu Operates 'Culture Center' Performance Program for Residents' Performing Arts Enjoyment


[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kim Yukbong] Gwangju Buk-gu has prepared various planned and invited performances this year to enhance the cultural enjoyment of its residents.


On the 14th, Buk-gu announced that it will operate the 2022 performance program of the Buk-gu Cultural Center 'Concert in Buk-gu,' which has established itself as a representative performing arts platform.


'Concert in Buk-gu' has prepared the planned series 'Pan(判) and Voice(聲)' for this year.


It is scheduled to meet the audience four times in total on the last Thursday of each month, divided into the first half (April, June) and the second half (September, November).


The first performance in April will be 's '體 : Alma Libre (Free Soul).' It presents an original stage by combining traditional Spanish flamenco dance and singing with Korean popular songs and traditional folk songs.


Following this, until November, various performances will be held including ▲ the leading fusion gugak band 's '樂 : Pungnyujigwang (風流之光)' ▲ the gugak percussion band led by master janggu player and percussion leader Kim Sora's '打 : Landscape' ▲ and the genius trio representing domestic blues music 's '音 : Music of the Wanderer.'


In addition, special planned performances are also prepared.


Starting with the media performance ’s 'Harmony Of Light,' which fuses various arts and light, performances by professional arts groups with both artistic quality and popularity such as opera, traditional arts, and dance will be held.


Director Moon In said, “We will continue to provide various performances and exhibition programs that encompass all generations to realize cultural democracy where all residents can enjoy a cultural life without discrimination.”


Meanwhile, Buk-gu signed an agreement with the play troupe 'Sinmyeong' and resident performance groups this year and plans to present various beloved works such as ▲ May Madanggeuk 'Someday in Spring' ▲ children's environmental musical 'The Three Musketeers' Great Adventure' ▲ and the original performance 'When the Camellia Blooms' (tentative title).
