[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Park Jin-hyung] The Bitgoeul Singers Association announced, “We actively support Lee Yong-seop, the prospective candidate for mayor of Gwangju, who will lead a bigger and stronger Gwangju Cultural Capital.”
On the afternoon of the 14th, the Bitgoeul Singers Association held a press conference at the election office of Lee Yong-seop, prospective candidate for mayor of Gwangju, in Sangmu District, Seo-gu, Gwangju, declaring, “We support prospective mayor Lee Yong-seop, who communicates openly with cultural artists to ensure that Gwangju’s culture and arts do not regress but leap forward as the center of the country’s cultural capital.”
The Bitgoeul Singers Association added, “Prospective candidate Lee Yong-seop has respected cultural artists not as mere tools but has supported their cultural rights and artistic creative activities through policies during the past 7th local government term,” and stated, “He is the right person who understands the difficulties of the cultural and artistic community well and will help them find a stable life.”
In particular, they emphasized, “Last year, prospective candidate Lee Yong-seop created the ‘5 Major Shared Cultural Vision and 20 Policies,’ and at that time, Mayor Lee personally visited cultural and artistic sites to listen to voices from the field and established a ‘Special Cultural and Arts Week,’ sparing no support to overcome the crisis in the cultural and artistic community,” adding, “He has also worked to promote the rights of cultural artists.”
The Bitgoeul Singers Association said, “We believe in the sincerity of prospective candidate Lee Yong-seop, who has established and implemented strategies for the development of local culture and arts, and we are confident that he is the right person to lead ‘Cultural Capital Gwangju.’ We will support Lee Yong-seop’s victory to complete a bigger and stronger Gwangju Cultural Capital in the future.”
