Proposals Include Creating Youth Startup Hub Spaces and Prioritizing Purchase of Products from Young Entrepreneurs

Candidate Lee Don-seung Promises to Revitalize Youth Economy

[Wanju=Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kim Han-ho] Lee Don-seung, a preliminary candidate for Wanju County governor, announced on the 14th that he will focus on revitalizing the local youth economy.

The candidate pledged to create a “leading self-sufficient economy, Wanju County” by promoting △the establishment of youth startup hub spaces △priority purchasing of products produced by young entrepreneurs △strengthening partnerships between youth organizations and administration △youth quotas in county committees △and increasing support for startup and operating funds to activate the youth economy.

First, the candidate announced plans to create a youth startup hub space linking the Korea Alcohol Theme Museum in Guimyeon, Gui Reservoir, Moaksan Mountain, and Gyeonggak Mountain. This space would include campgrounds or street food stalls to enable young people to easily start businesses and engage in economic activities.

Additionally, through the enactment of related ordinances, the candidate plans to introduce a “certification system” for products produced by young entrepreneurs and establish a system where administrative agencies prioritize purchasing these products.

Along with this, the candidate promised to implement a youth quota system mandating about 20% youth participation in county committees and to strengthen partnerships with youth organizations that will convey the voices of young entrepreneurs.

Lee Don-seung said, “As of the end of February this year, the youth population aged 18 to 39 in Wanju County is 18,920, accounting for 20.77% of the total. If the youth economy is revitalized, it will have a positive impact not only on the local economy but also on population inflow, helping to overcome the crisis of regional extinction.”
