[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Hwang Duyul] The experiential university Dongmyeong University Creative Character Research Institute delivered a lecture on the ‘4C’s Advanced Creative Character Teaching Method,’ developed as a future education teaching method for the era of the 4th Industrial Revolution, to creative character education instructors in the local community.
The 4C’s teaching method refers to Computational Thinking (C-computational thinking), Creativity & Character (C-creativity & Character), Large-scale Open Online Courses (C-mooc), and Educational Welfare (C-common Good).
The special lecture, held for three hours on the 8th at Gijang Hyanggyo, was attended by about 30 creative character instructors from Busan city.
The lecture covered the ‘Creative Character Advanced Teaching Method using Media,’ which differs from traditional educational methods.
It sequentially demonstrated how to use media for creative character education, showing case-based examples for local instructors to apply in the field.
Rather than simply watching films (media), activities were conducted to interpret, feel, and reflect on the experiences of the film’s protagonists within one’s own life.
Yoon Jeongjin, director of the Creative Character Research Institute, said, “We also engaged in humanities-based reflection, reading various film scripts, and producing videos.”
Kim Duho, secretary general and creative character instructor at Gijang Hyanggyo who participated in the class, emphasized, “This is a learner-centered, active teaching method that should be newly embraced in character education, and I will actively utilize it in future classes.”
Dr. Kim Seongwon, invited professor at the Creative Character Research Institute who gave the special lecture, said, “I hope that the expansion of this teaching method will nurture creative talents required by the era of the 4th Industrial Revolution.”
