Gimhae City to Support Private Kindergarten Textbook and Teaching Material Costs from This Year… 1 Million Won per Class, Total 280 Million Won

[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Lee Seryeong] Gimhae City, Gyeongnam Province, will support teaching materials and supplies costs for 36 private kindergartens in the region starting this year.

The city prepared the support funds to help private kindergartens, which are in a blind spot of support, despite the decrease in the number of children due to the declining birthrate and difficulties caused by the COVID-19 pandemic.

Last year, the ordinance on education expense subsidies was amended, and starting this year, 1 million KRW per class will be provided, totaling 280 classes and 280 million KRW.

In addition, the city is carrying out educational support projects such as support for purchasing school uniforms for elementary, middle, and high schools, educational environment improvement projects, Happy Education District projects, support for operating elementary after-school programs, support for customized learning operations in high schools, and support for operating dormitory-type high schools and autonomous public high schools.

A city official said, “In line with the status of a child-friendly city, we expanded the scope of city subsidy projects not only to elementary, middle, and high schools but also to kindergartens to ensure that no student is excluded from learning opportunities.”
