Yeosu Gwangyang Port Authority Protects Port Workers with Recycled Lane Blocks

[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters, Reporter Heo Seon-sik] Yeosu Gwangyang Port Authority, which produces various clothing items through marine plastic collection and resource circulation projects, has once again attracted attention by producing lane control blocks.

Yeosu Gwangyang Port Authority (President Park Seong-hyun, YGPA) announced on the 14th that it has produced 100 lane control blocks to protect port workers from vehicle accidents within the dock.

The authority has been considering the production of recycled products using ropes that secure ships and general plastics with low utility value while promoting marine plastic collection and resource circulation projects.

Focusing on the frequent occurrence of worker casualties caused by cargo trucks within the dock, the authority produced lane control blocks.

The produced lane control blocks were installed in collision risk zones within the Gwangyang Port dock.

The authority explained that they received words of appreciation from dock officials, stating that it is an optimal product to protect workers from vehicle accidents.

Meanwhile, to preserve the beautiful sea, the authority operates the ‘Gwangyang Port Resource Circulation Network,’ which includes ▲ crackdowns on marine plastic dumping from ships in cooperation with the Coast Guard ▲ marine plastic waste collection with ship cleaning companies production of marine waste plastic recycled fabric with textile companies ▲ production of upcycling goods with local social enterprises.

Recently, famous fashion brand products using marine plastic recycled fabric have been released, indicating the successful operation of this project.

President Park Seong-hyun said, “Marine plastic recycled lane control blocks are meaningful products that can protect both the safety of workers within the port and the marine environment,” and added, “Building on the success of this project, we will expand the marine plastic resource circulation business model of Gwangyang Port nationwide this year.”
