Yeosu Mayor Candidate Jeon Chang-gon’s Third ‘Small but Certain Happiness Pledge’... “Providing ‘Yeosu-style Geottec’ for Economy and Health”

Yeosu Mayor Candidate Jeon Chang-gon’s Third ‘Small but Certain Happiness Pledge’... “Providing ‘Yeosu-style Geottec’ for Economy and Health”

[Yeosu=Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Lee Hyung-gwon] Jeon Chang-gon, chairman of the Yeosu City Council and a preliminary candidate for Yeosu mayor, announced the third small but certain happiness (So-hwak-haeng) pledge, the ‘Yeosu-style Walk-Tech’ policy, on the 14th.

Jeon Chang-gon’s So-hwak-haeng pledge refers to a series of policies that practically increase the happiness index of Yeosu citizens.

The first So-hwak-haeng pledge was the ‘Yeosu Citizen Mobile Data Support’ policy, which expanded public Wi-Fi coverage throughout Yeosu.

The second pledge was the ‘Chatbot Administrative Service,’ which operates 24/7, 365 days a year.

This service allows citizens to use real-time integrated civil complaint services without restrictions on time and place through the expanded public Wi-Fi.

The ‘Yeosu-style Walk-Tech’ policy, following the first and second pledges, is a policy that can catch three rabbits at once: economy, health, and environment.

Specifically, it involves creating the ‘Yeosu City Pedometer’ app, and citizens who download and use this app and record a certain number of steps will receive rewards.

Since public Wi-Fi is expanded throughout Yeosu, citizens can participate in Walk-Tech for free.

The reward criterion is ‘300,000 steps per month.’ It does not matter whether one walks 50,000 or 100,000 steps a day.

However, one must walk at least 10,000 steps a day for at least 15 days a month. If the condition is not met despite reaching 300,000 steps in a month, no reward will be given.

The reward for Yeosu-style Walk-Tech is Yeosu local gift certificates worth about 30,000 KRW. If all four family members succeed in Walk-Tech, a considerable amount can be received annually.

The effects of Yeosu-style Walk-Tech are not limited to the economy. It also helps in health and environmental areas.

First, walking is an exercise recommended by many experts. It has been proven through many cases that walking steadily for a certain time without putting much strain on the body is very effective.

Since walking does not involve using vehicles, it is expected to reduce air pollution such as exhaust fumes and tire dust, thus benefiting the air environment.

Additionally, it will help alleviate traffic congestion.

Jeon Chang-gon, preliminary candidate for Yeosu mayor, emphasized, “Walking is the most basic and important physical activity for humans. By participating in Yeosu-style Walk-Tech, you can walk without boredom and also earn gift certificates. If health improves through walking, medical expenses will decrease.”

He added, “I planned this So-hwak-haeng pledge to provide practical help to the beloved and respected citizens of Yeosu. I want to implement all So-hwak-haeng pledges so that citizens can be happier. I will make sure to keep my promises.”
