Gwangju Dongbu Fire Station Conducts 'Fire Truck Right-of-Way' Drill to Secure Golden Time

[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Park Jin-hyung] The Dongbu Fire Station of Gwangju Metropolitan City announced on the 14th that it conducted a fire truck lane-clearing drill to ensure the rapid arrival of fire brigades at disaster sites and to promote a fire prevention atmosphere.

The drill on that day consisted of ▲emergency dispatch in habitual congestion areas ▲promotion of parking on one side of narrow roads such as traditional markets and a fire truck parade ▲temporary stop on the right edge of the road avoiding intersections at crossroads ▲temporary stop on the right edge of one-way streets ▲promotion for pedestrians to pause briefly at crosswalks when emergency vehicles are seen at crosswalks.

Lee Chung-joo, head of the 119 Disaster Response Team, said, "Through continuous training and active participation of citizens, the golden time for fire and disaster has been secured, reducing casualties and property damage," and added, "The campaign is ongoing for a safer Gwangju, so we ask for citizens' cooperation and interest."
