[Asia Economy Reporter Jongil Park] Gangnam-gu (District Mayor Jeong Soon-gyun) supported an experiential activity of cultivating eco-friendly food for 18 children aged 2 to 3 and 5 teachers from the Gangnam-gu workplace daycare center at the Gangnam-gu Smart Farm located in Segok-dong on the 12th.


The Gangnam-gu Smart Farm is equipped with advanced technology integrating information and communication technology and a circular hydroponic system that raises and harvests fish and crops together.


Gangnam-gu supports experiential events where children from local daycare centers can directly harvest eco-friendly foods such as strawberries and leafy vegetables. In addition, it plans to hold experiential events once or twice a week by accepting applications from local daycare centers in the future.

Dongdaemun-gu (District Mayor Yoo Deok-yeol) is delivering warm hearts to residents suffering from forest fire damage in Gyeongbuk and Gangwon regions.


From the 6th to the 8th, over three days, Yoo Deok-yeol, Dongdaemun-gu mayor, district officials, and subordinate facilities raised donations with the participation of about 1,000 people, collecting 13.27 million won.


Also, on the 7th, the Dongdaemun-gu Saemaeul Women's Association (President Shin Mi-sook) visited Hyeonnae-ri, Ok-gye-myeon, Gangneung City, which is struggling to overcome the Gangneung forest fire damage, and donated 1 million won to the Hyeonnae-ri Saemaeul Women's Association. On the afternoon of the 8th, the Dongdaemun-gu Residents' Autonomy Association Federation (President Park Yong-beom) donated 1 million won, and the Imun 2-dong Residents' Autonomy Association (President Yoo Sung-geun) donated 3 million won to the district office.


The district delivered the total donation of 18.27 million won collected to overcome the forest fire damage in Gyeongbuk and Gangwon to the National Disaster Relief Association on the 12th.


Yoo Deok-yeol, mayor of Dongdaemun-gu, said, “During this anxious time due to the spread of COVID-19, sudden disasters have overlapped, causing difficulties for disaster victims. To help them even a little, employees and resident representatives gathered their hearts to raise donations,” and added, “We will deliver the donations well so that the forest fire damage can be restored quickly and people can return to their daily lives.”
