[Asia Economy Reporter Lee Myunghwan] Hong Joon-pyo, a member of the People Power Party who declared his candidacy for Daegu mayor in the upcoming June 1 local elections, described the meeting between President-elect Yoon Seok-yeol and former President Park Geun-hye as a "settling of a bad relationship."
On the 12th, Hong responded on his online communication platform 'Dream of Youth' in the 'Hongmun Q&A' corner regarding the meeting between President-elect Yoon and former President Park, saying, "That meeting was merely to settle a bad relationship from their prosecutor days."
He also dismissed some claims that he would give up his position in the Daegu mayoral election, calling them "fiction."
Earlier, President-elect Yoon Seok-yeol visited former President Park's residence on the 12th and told reporters, "We talked about the president's health," adding, "I also expressed my human sympathy and the regret I carry in my heart."
At the visit, lawyer Yoo Young-ha, who declared his candidacy for Daegu mayor, and Kwon Young-se, vice chairman of the Presidential Transition Committee, accompanied President-elect Yoon.
