CoAsia Optics Q1 Operating Profit Up 253%... "Growth as a Leading Camera Module Company"

[Asia Economy Reporter Hyungsoo Park] Korea Asia Optics, a smartphone camera module company, announced on the 12th that it achieved sales of 117.3 billion KRW and an operating profit of 2.4 billion KRW in the first quarter of this year. Sales and operating profit increased by 460% and 253%, respectively, compared to the same period last year.

The consolidated results reflected the camera module business division acquired last year. Strengthening competitiveness through lens research and development and production efficiency led to improved profitability. Completing research and development and facility investments, along with an increasing sales proportion of high-spec and high-resolution products, also contributed to turning a profit.

A company official said, "We expect sales and operating profit to increase this year due to the entry into the camera module business," adding, "Preparations for securing future growth engines such as automotive electronics, along with proactive responses to the high functionality of smartphones, are also being actively pursued."

Korea Asia Optics has established a vertically integrated system producing everything from camera lenses to modules, strengthening its product lineup and competitiveness. It has built a business structure capable of stable performance growth. By continuously enhancing product responsiveness, the company aims to leap forward as a leading domestic camera module specialist.

A company official emphasized, "The improvement in performance last month was more remarkable than at the beginning of the year," and added, "We expect the performance improvement trend to continue into the second quarter."

Korea Asia Optics is developing various camera lenses and modules for automotive electronics, augmented reality (AR), extended reality (XR), and security purposes. In January, it signed a business agreement with Insignal, Qualcomm XR Metaverse's official domestic design house, announcing cooperation in the metaverse hardware field.
