[Asia Economy Reporter Lee Hyun-joo] President-elect Yoon Suk-yeol expressed his intention on the 12th to promote and continue the policies of former President Park Geun-hye.

On that day, President-elect Yoon met with former President Park for 50 minutes at her residence in Dalseong, Daegu. At a meeting with reporters, Kwon Young-se, Vice Chairman of the Presidential Transition Committee, who attended the meeting, said, "Former President Park felt that there are very good policies and achievements that have not been properly recognized, which she finds very regrettable. The President-elect said he would continue the policies initiated by former President Park, promote them widely, ensure they are properly known, and help restore her honor." Lawyer Yoo Young-ha, who was also present, added, "Former President Park expressed her gratitude."

Lawyer Yoo continued, "The President-elect has been reviewing materials on how former President Park Chung-hee managed the cabinet and the Blue House at the time, visiting those who served under former President Park Chung-hee to learn how he led the country. He said that since being elected, he has been worried and has had trouble sleeping. He also promised to take good care of former President Park’s hospital and security matters," he said.

President-elect Yoon also directly apologized for the past issues related to the so-called 'state affairs manipulation' case, in which he was involved as a special prosecutor and suspect. On that day, he told former President Park directly, "I have always been sorry. I have no excuse." Later, he told reporters, "I expressed my heartfelt regret and the apology I carry in my heart."

The meeting was held in a harmonious atmosphere. Vice Chairman Kwon said, "It lasted about 50 minutes and was conducted in a very friendly atmosphere. Although it is not appropriate to disclose the details, there was so much content that I wish it could be made public," he recounted.

Former President Park also asked President-elect Yoon to "take a great interest in the development of Daegu."
