The first spring watermelons of the year were shipped on the 10th in Daegaya-eup, Goryeong-gun, Gyeongbuk.

[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Yeo Jong-gu] Goryeong-gun, Gyeongbuk, proudly shipped its first spring watermelons, known for their taste and quality, on the 10th.

This year's first shipment from Hwang Yoomyung's farm in Daegaya-eup cultivated a total of 19 watermelon units, each traded at 6.5 million KRW.

Goryeong spring watermelons are characterized by being planted in winter and cultivated for an average of over 100 days, resulting in higher sweetness and denser flesh compared to summer watermelons.

This year, watermelons are cultivated on 172 hectares by 239 farms in the Goryeong-gun area, with the main shipment scheduled for a joint release on May 5th, targeting the Daegaya Experience Festival.
