[Asia Economy Reporter Kwon Hyun-ji] President-elect Yoon Seok-yeol visited Pohang, Gyeongbuk on the 11th, calling Daegu and Gyeongbuk his "political hometown" and promising to fulfill his presidential campaign pledges.
On that day, President-elect Yoon met with citizens at Jukdo Market in Pohang and said, "Although I want to speak in detail, with the local elections approaching and due to election laws and political ethics issues, I cannot say more, but you can be assured that everything you are expecting will go well." About 500 citizens gathered at the event to welcome President-elect Yoon.
He also expressed gratitude for the support he received. He said, "Your enthusiastic support and encouragement gave me great strength, helping me overcome difficulties during the campaign, and with your overwhelming support, I was elected president. I will never forget this while carrying out my presidential duties." He added, "I had promised to visit Jukdo Market again soon after being elected to personally thank you all. It is a bit late now, and I apologize." He had previously visited this place on February 27 during the presidential campaign and promised to revisit after his election.
Before visiting Jukdo Market, President-elect Yoon inspected the construction site of the Pohang Yeongilman Bridge and received a progress report. Discussions were also held regarding the recovery status from the Pohang earthquake damage.
President-elect Yoon began a 1-night, 2-day visit to Daegu and Gyeongbuk (TK) on that day. On the 11th, he visited Andong, Sangju, Gumi, Pohang, and Gyeongju in Gyeongbuk, and on the 12th, he planned to visit the former President Park Geun-hye’s residence in Daegu.
