[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Park Jin-hyung] The Gwangju Student Independence Movement Memorial Hall has designated April as the "Month of the Yellow Ribbon" to mark the 8th anniversary of the Sewol Ferry disaster and is promoting related events.
According to the Student Independence Movement Memorial Hall on the 11th, this event aims to remember the pain of the Sewol Ferry, commemorate the victims, and remind people of the importance of safety.
All staff members of the Student Independence Movement Memorial Hall will wear Sewol Ferry memorial badges and display memorial banner phrases at the entrance of the hall.
Additionally, in the first-floor lobby, citizens and staff will collaborate to create a memorial space by hanging yellow ribbons on the "Tree of Shared Memory."
Jo Mi-kyung, director of the Student Independence Movement Memorial Hall, said, "This event will be a time to commemorate the students and teachers who lost their lives in the April 16 Sewol Ferry disaster and to reflect on the lessons learned from the tragedy. Furthermore, our hall will continue to operate meaningful events with local residents and strive even harder to create a safe educational environment for children."
