[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Park Jin-hyung] Gwangju Metropolitan City announced that the extended application period for the daily recovery support fund for those who did not apply will close at 6 p.m. on the 15th.
The city operated the application period from January 17 to February 28 this year for Gwangju residents as of December 1 last year and paid the support fund to 96.3% (1,414,694 people) of all citizens.
Despite the high payment rate, some citizens unfortunately missed the application period due to reasons such as COVID-19 self-treatment and workplace circumstances. To help all citizens recover their daily lives, considering the original policy intent, the city has extended the application period from the 21st of last month to the 15th of this month for those who did not apply (54,795 people).
Since the extended application started on March 21, as of the 8-day deadline, 8,966 people have received the daily recovery support fund.
With about 600 applications per day, elderly people, who especially have limited access to information, expressed gratitude for the city’s proactive administration such as postal guidance for non-applicants and showed high satisfaction with the extended application operation.
If you are a citizen who meets the payment criteria but have not yet applied for the support fund, please visit the reception desk set up in the citizen hall on the first floor of Gwangju City Hall from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. on weekdays to apply for the daily recovery support fund. A prepaid Win-Win Card will be issued, and there is no separate online application or administrative welfare center reception desk operation.
The daily recovery support fund received during the extended application period can only be used until May 31, the same usage period as the support fund paid during the original application period. Any unused balance will be automatically forfeited thereafter.
Park Nam-eon, Director of the Citizen Safety Office, urged, “Since the application period has been extended to provide support benefits to all eligible recipients, citizens who have not yet applied for the support fund should hurry as the extended application period is running out.”
