Heo Seok, Suncheon Mayor Preliminary Candidate, and Assemblyman So Byeong-cheol Pledge Victory in "Local Election"

[Suncheon=Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Lee Hyung-kwon] Heo Seok, a preliminary candidate for Suncheon mayor, announced on the 10th that Congressman So Byeong-cheol (Suncheon-Gwangyang-Gurye-Gokseong Gap) visited the election office and pledged victory in the local elections.

Congressman So, who could not attend Heo Seok’s preliminary candidate election office opening ceremony held a day earlier due to National Assembly schedules, said, “It was difficult to make time because of the prosecution reform issue at the National Assembly, but I asked the party leadership and managed to make time to visit today,” adding, “Coming here brings back memories, and exactly two years ago, I started my (general election) campaign at this very place.”

Congressman So Byeong-cheol used the current election office space of preliminary candidate Heo Seok when he ran in the 21st National Assembly election two years ago.

He continued, “In a month, we will become the opposition party, and various difficulties are expected,” and said, “If the mayor, provincial councilors, and city councilors elected by the citizens unite tightly through this local election, we will be able to show a unified front to the citizens.”

Additionally, Congressman So said, “If candidate Heo Seok is elected mayor, there will be no problem in working in complete harmony with the National Assembly member to promote Suncheon’s development and improve citizens’ lives,” and pledged, “Although there were difficulties due to the Democratic Party candidates not winning in four general elections (and the absence of a Democratic Party mayor), I promise here with candidate Heo that once he is elected, the conflicts and confrontations that citizens worry about will no longer exist.”

More than 100 supporters gathered at the election office visited by Congressman So Byeong-cheol today, responding with welcome and applause.

Preliminary candidate Heo Seok is from Haeryong-myeon, Suncheon, graduated from Suncheon High School and Seoul National University’s Department of Economics, and has served as director of the Labor Issues Research Institute that opens the dawn, and co-chairman of the Jeonnam joint election campaign committee for presidential candidate Moon Jae-in.

In the 2018 Suncheon mayoral election, he was the only Democratic Party mayoral candidate elected in the three cities of the eastern Jeonnam region and is currently serving as the 7th popularly elected mayor of Suncheon.
