[Asia Economy Reporter Kum Bo-ryeong] The Presidential Transition Committee considered having a performance by BTS (Bangtan Sonyeondan) at President-elect Yoon Seok-yeol's inauguration ceremony but ultimately decided not to invite them. Whether to invite former President Park Geun-hye will proceed based on the outcome of a meeting with President-elect Yoon.

On the 11th, Park Joo-sun, chairman of the Presidential Transition Committee, met with reporters after a mid-term briefing at the transition office press conference hall in Tongui-dong, Jongno-gu, Seoul, and said, "We felt that inviting BTS to perform this time was not appropriate, and due to budget constraints and difficulties in hosting global stars, we concluded not to invite them this time." He added, "I hope there will be opportunities in the future to consider events befitting BTS's status and reputation."

Park also explained, "It is true that the transition committee reviewed various options, including whether to include a BTS performance in the presidential inauguration event. However, during the review process, President-elect Yoon said that although the inauguration ceremony would be modest, it should be substantial and a genuine occasion for national unity, involving children, youth, vulnerable groups, and unknown stars."

The possibility of inviting former President Park remains open. Park said, "I personally think that President-elect Yoon will politely request former President Park to attend, with the intention of greatly helping national unity and harmony." He emphasized, "Depending on the outcome, the transition committee plans to proceed with the invitation process with proper courtesy."

President-elect Yoon plans to visit Daegu on the 12th to meet former President Park. There is speculation that Yoon will request Park to attend the inauguration ceremony scheduled for May 10.

The slogan for this inauguration ceremony has been decided as "Again, Republic of Korea! A New Nation of the People." Park said, "It was planned considering the president-elect's usual emphasis on a Korea that leaps forward again, a country where the people are the owners." He added, "The emblem incorporates 'Dongsim-gyeol' (traditional knot), symbolizing a pledge and promise for the new Republic of Korea."

The inauguration ceremony is expected to be attended by high-level diplomatic envoys from various countries, including foreign diplomatic representatives in Korea, as well as key figures from various sectors, and efforts are being made to include overseas Koreans.
