Kolon Glotech Pioneers Eco-Friendly Infill-Free Artificial Turf Market

Kolon Glotech announced on the 11th that it will pioneer the domestic eco-friendly artificial turf market with its domestically first-developed infill-free system artificial turf.

[Asia Economy Reporter Oh Hyung-gil] Kolon Glotech announced on the 11th that it will pioneer the domestic eco-friendly artificial turf market with the first domestically developed infill-free artificial turf system.

Infill-free artificial turf is an eco-friendly artificial turf that uses a shock-absorbing pad independently developed by Kolon Glotech instead of infill material. Most artificial turf distributed in Korea consists of turf piles, a sand layer supporting the turf piles, and an infill layer for shock absorption.

By absorbing user impact through the shock-absorbing pad instead of infill material, it resolves environmental issues such as microplastics from infill materials found in existing products.

Additionally, Kolon Glotech applied an eco-friendly dry coating technology patented domestically. Compared to conventional coating methods, it offers superior drainage performance, is much lighter, and allows recycling of waste artificial turf.

Applying high-durability technology that prevents turf from easily being pulled out, it passed the professional usage performance standards of the International Football Federation (FIFA) and the durability performance standards of the Korean Industrial Standards (KS).

A Kolon Glotech official said, "We will lead a new trend and actively target the market through the eco-friendly infill-free artificial turf system," adding, "We will continue research and development to solve safety issues such as environmental hazards and injury risks."
