Yeosu-si Disabled Short-Term Residential Facility, 'Arum' Opens

[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters, Reporter Heo Seon-sik] The short-term residential facility for the disabled in Yeosu City, Jeollanam-do, "Aroom," held its opening ceremony on the 5th and officially began operations.

The opening ceremony was attended by Park Hyun-sik, Deputy Mayor of Yeosu City, Kim Jeong-myeong, CEO of the social welfare corporation Eunhyeon, and heads of local social welfare facilities.

The "short-term residential facility for the disabled" is a facility that provides a short-term living space and socio-cultural activity services to disabled individuals in the absence of their caregivers, aiming to reduce the burden on caregivers who must provide 24-hour care.

The city invested a total project cost of 2.4 billion KRW and completed the short-term residential facility for the disabled on December 14 last year. It is located on the first floor of Building D at the Yeosu City Mipyeong-dong Comprehensive Welfare Center for the Disabled, with an area of 398.16㎡.

A city official said, "Yeosu City's short-term residential facility for the disabled, 'Aroom,' means 'Our space where beauty is achieved,' and it is expected to be a great help to local disabled people and their caregivers."

Meanwhile, "Aroom" has a capacity of 12 residents and has been operating a preliminary admission period for residents since April.
