Democratic Party Candidate Group to Challenge Oh Se-hoon Draws Attention
[Asia Economy Reporter Park Jun-yi] Park Jumin, a member of the Democratic Party of Korea, announced his candidacy for the Seoul mayoral primary on the 7th.
On the same day, Park stated on Facebook, "I have registered as a candidate for the Democratic Party's Seoul mayoral primary today."
He said, "After the presidential election, I carefully listened to the concerns of party members, supporters, and the public," adding, "I received various opinions, but the common thread was the need for a 'generation change' and 'era change' to create a 'younger Seoul city.'"
He continued, "That is why I made up my mind," and said, "Born in 1973, father of 5-year-old Sol, I, Park Jumin, pledge to make Seoul younger and newer."
Park said, "Soon, I will formally share my determination in detail with party members, supporters, and the ten million citizens of Seoul."
Earlier, Song Young-gil, former leader of the Democratic Party, who also declared his intention to run for Seoul mayor, completed his primary registration on the same day. On Facebook, he stated, "If a catalyst for victory in the local elections is needed, I believe it is my destiny as a former party leader not to avoid or ignore it," adding, "I will offer new hope to party members and the public solely through ability and passion."
