The Largest in Korea... 3rd Store 'Apple Myeongdong' Unveiled

[Asia Economy Reporter Lim Hye-seon] Apple held a preview of its third Apple Store in Korea, 'Apple Myeongdong,' on the 7th. It is the largest in scale in Korea.

Deirdre, Apple's Senior Vice President, said on the day, "We opened a special store in Myeongdong to get closer to Korean customers," adding, "You will be able to experience Apple's innovative products and services." Apple opened its first Apple Store in Garosu-gil, Gangnam, Seoul in 2018, and opened its second store in Yeouido last year.

The two-story store is located in the heart of Myeongdong. Small gardens are created on both sides of the store, and sculptures made by artist Lee Jae-hyo and VAKKI are placed. Additionally, Apple Myeongdong features the first-ever double-height glass front with a horizontal support structure.

Visitors entering the store can see Apple's latest products, including Apple TV+. For the first time in Asia, a dedicated Apple Pickup area has been established, allowing customers to conveniently receive products ordered online. Visitors can move between the two floors of the store via a transparent glass staircase or an elevator covered with stainless steel. The second floor offers a spacious area to browse products and receive service support. In the boardroom equipped with hanji lighting, Apple Myeongdong's business team provides training and consulting for entrepreneurs, developers, and business customers.

Apple Myeongdong employs 220 staff members from more than eight nationalities, providing services in a total of 11 languages. Apple Myeongdong will officially open at 10 a.m. on the 9th.

Meanwhile, last month Apple opened the Apple Developer Academy in collaboration with Pohang University of Science and Technology. Since the 5th, applications have also started for the world's first Apple Manufacturing Research and Development (R&D) Support Center.
