Pre-candidate Jeon Chang-gon’s Second ‘Small but Certain Happiness Pledge’... “Implementing Chatbot Service Beside Citizens Anytime, Anywhere”

[Yeosu=Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Lee Hyung-kwon] Jeon Chang-gon, chairman of the Yeosu City Council and a preliminary candidate for Yeosu mayor, announced on the 6th his second small but certain happiness (So-hwak-haeng) pledge: the ‘Chatbot Service, Always by the Citizens’ Side, Anywhere, Anytime’ policy.

Previously, his first So-hwak-haeng pledge was the ‘Yeosu Citizen Mobile Data Support’ policy, which expands public Wi-Fi coverage throughout Yeosu.

This new pledge is connected to the first So-hwak-haeng pledge and is a policy that can significantly improve the quality of administrative services.

The chatbot service, as the name suggests, applies chatbots (chatter robots) to Yeosu city administration.

Chatbots are technologies used by major IT companies such as Facebook, Telegram, Naver, and Kakao.

Yeosu citizens can easily consult civil complaints by selecting items listed in the chatbot service or by asking questions as if chatting.

In particular, the chatbot administrative service can operate 24 hours a day, 365 days a year, without location restrictions. This establishes a real-time integrated civil complaint system.

Especially in Yeosu, due to the national industrial complex, there are many shift workers, and there has been a strong demand for nighttime civil complaint processing.

However, switching public officials to night shifts is not a simple matter.

Accordingly, Jeon Chang-gon, the preliminary candidate for Yeosu mayor, prepared this policy to overcome the limitations of Yeosu City Hall’s current office hours.

Once the chatbot administrative service is activated, it will also be more convenient for citizens to express their opinions, such as policy proposals.

Suggestions can be sent directly to Yeosu City Hall as if exchanging messages with a friend.

Complex civil complaints can also be handled at once after sufficient consultation through the chatbot in advance, rather than visiting City Hall multiple times.

Jeon Chang-gon, the preliminary candidate for Yeosu mayor, explained, “Communication is the most important value above all. Without proper communication, it is impossible to increase the happiness index of Yeosu citizens. I prepared this policy to listen closely to what citizens want and need.”

He added, “Chatbots are technologies used by global companies. We expect to provide revolutionary administrative services to Yeosu citizens,” and emphasized, “We will continue to introduce policies reflecting the growing non-face-to-face culture and ensure their realization for the citizens.”
