[Jeju=Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Hwang Jeongpil] Jeju Police Agency announced on the 6th that on the 5th, Arbor Day, they visited Gyoraeri Village, where the Police Forest Shelter is located, held a meeting with residents to cultivate the forest together, and carried out environmental cleanup activities such as picking up trash along the Samdasu Forest Trail.
The meeting held at the Gyoraeri Village Community Center was attended by Kim Jeonghak, President of Jeju Development Corporation, Na Bonggil, the village chief of Gyoraeri Village, and village residents.
Jeju Police, as the number of visitors to the Police Forest Shelter has recently increased, installed various convenience facilities for visitors and conducted activities linking the Police Forest Shelter with village forest events.
They also shared the intention to provide visitors with abundant sights and enjoyable experiences and to work together to make the forest more beautiful.
The Police Chief, the village chief, and about 20 police officers and village residents walked around the approximately 150,000-pyeong (about 495,867㎡) Police Forest Trail within the Samdasu Forest Trail and carried out environmental cleanup activities such as picking up trash.
The Police Forest Shelter has been managed since 1975 on a site of 495,867㎡ (about 150,000 pyeong), where all staff have participated annually in tree-planting events for over 40 years, planting and maintaining 160,000 cedar trees.
It is included in courses 2 and 3 of the Samdasu Forest Trail and has been called the Police Forest Shelter since the name was selected through a public contest in August 2021.
