[Asia Economy Reporter Seungjin Lee] Netmarble announced on the 6th that its subsidiary Netmarble F&C's subsidiary 'Metaverse Entertainment' has attracted an investment valued at 100 billion KRW from Hyundai Motor Group's 'Zero One Fund 2.'
Through this contract, the digital human being developed by Metaverse Entertainment is expected to collaborate in various ways with Hyundai Motor Group.
The digital human 'Rina' is a virtual influencer actively engaging on Instagram, TikTok, and other platforms, and signed an exclusive contract with the entertainment agency Sublime on the 29th.
The '4-member girl group' scheduled to debut this year is a global target K-pop virtual idol group composed of digital humans such as Jena and Siwoo. Metaverse Entertainment creates an independent worldview and characters, while Kakao Entertainment is responsible for entertainment and global infrastructure.
Metaverse Entertainment, established by Netmarble F&C, develops virtual reality platforms and manages virtual idols, producing and providing metaverse content and services.
Currently, Netmarble F&C is developing a platform encompassing games, digital humans, entertainment, content (webtoons and web novels), and commerce based on blockchain technology, and plans to complete the 'Metaverse VFX Research Center,' a facility integrating metaverse technology, within the first half of the year.
The 'Zero One Fund 2,' which made this investment, is a fund by Hyundai Motor Group that invests in companies with innovative technologies and creative ideas. Hyundai Motor, Kia, and Hyundai Motor Securities each invest and jointly operate the fund, with group affiliates such as Hyundai Mobis, AutoEver, and Innocean contributing capital, and investors including the Korea Development Bank and Shinhan Bank participating.
