Public-Private Partnership for Preventing Children's Traffic Accidents
[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Choi Soon-kyung] Gu In-mo, the mayor of Geochang County, participated in the 'School Route Traffic Safety Campaign,' jointly conducted by the public and private sectors to prevent children's traffic accidents and establish a traffic culture.
The campaign was attended by about 60 people, including Gu In-mo, mayor of Geochang County, Nam Ki-jae, chief of Geochang Police Station, Kang Shin-young, superintendent of Geochang Office of Education, Kim Bo-kyung, president of the Green Mothers' Association at Geochang Elementary School, and Jeong Dong-yong, president of the Geochang Model Drivers Association. They worked to promote traffic safety rules such as Safe Speed 5030, prohibition of parking and stopping in school zones, and driving at 30 km/h in school zones.
Gu In-mo, mayor of Geochang County, said, "We must strive to ensure the safety of children walking to and from school and to spread a safety culture in school zones," adding, "We hope for the active interest and participation of county residents in establishing a traffic culture that protects children."
Geochang County is installing and operating traffic safety facilities around elementary schools designated as school zones to ensure safe commuting to and from school. This year, the county plans to expand the installation of child protection traffic safety facilities such as speed enforcement and parking violation unmanned surveillance cameras, speed display signs, crosswalk LED indicators, road surface markings, speed bumps, and safety signs.
