[Asia Economy Reporter Heo Midam] As Busan National University canceled the admission of Cho Min, daughter of former Minister of Justice Cho Kuk, to the Medical School, members of the Democratic Party have publicly opposed this decision.
Democratic Party lawmaker Kim Yong-min wrote on his Facebook on the 5th, "We will not leave behind a cruel and unfair world. I support Cho Min," adding, "Reform against the greatest vested interests is a matter of speed."
Democratic Party lawmaker Choi Kang-wook also questioned on Facebook, "Busan National University Medical School admission cancellation. Is this just welcome and joyful news for the elected official, the investigating prosecutor, and pro-Yoon (친윤) journalists?"
Kim Bin, former Digital Communication Center administrator at the Presidential Secretariat and a member of the Democratic Party, posted on his Facebook, "It is heartbreaking. The family of former Minister Cho is being slaughtered in a blatant targeted investigation for the 'crime of daring to challenge the prosecution.'"
He continued, "Ultimately, today Busan National University showed itself bowing its head to the tyranny of prosecutorial power," criticizing, "Busan National University must immediately revoke this clearly unjust decision. Otherwise, this will be recorded as a shameful history where the school succumbed to the tyranny of power and completely destroyed a student's life."

Meanwhile, Hwang Hee-doo, director of the Roh Moo-hyun Foundation and former digital spokesperson for the Democratic Party's election committee, pointed out, "Is it biased to ask that the same standards applied to the Cho Kuk family be applied equally to other politicians?"
He said on Facebook, "Is it fairness, justice, and common sense that the prosecution, which conducted raids on 100 places including associates and waged a public opinion campaign, remains silent in front of Yoon Seok-yeol's headquarters?" adding, "If this continues, who will lead reform in the future?"
Earlier, Busan National University passed a motion regarding the cancellation of Cho's admission to the Medical School at a faculty meeting held that afternoon. With the decision to cancel admission, it is expected to inevitably affect whether Cho's medical license will be revoked or whether her admission to Korea University will be canceled.
In response, former Minister Cho stated in a press release, "Cho's legal representative has filed a request for suspension of execution to suspend the effect of Busan National University's admission cancellation decision until the final judgment on the main case is confirmed."
He added, "According to the Medical School Admission Fairness Management Committee's internal investigation report, the problematic career and commendation certificates in this case did not affect the admission," and said, "Nevertheless, canceling admission based on career entries that had no impact on the outcome and consequently invalidating the medical license is an excessively harsh punishment for the applicant."
