Gyeongnam Office of Education has signed an agreement to prevent child abuse and protect child victims.
[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Lee Seryeong] The Gyeongnam Office of Education announced that it will focus on preventing child abuse and protecting abused children.
On the 4th, the Gyeongnam Office of Education signed a business agreement for "Prevention of Child Abuse and Protection of Abused Children" with the Gyeongsangnam-do Child Protection Agency, Gyeongsangnam-do Youth Support Foundation, Good Neighbors Gyeongnam Western Branch, Regional Child Center Gyeongsangnam-do Support Group, and Green Umbrella Children's Foundation Gyeongnam Child Advocacy Center.
The Gyeongnam Office of Education and child protection organizations in the Gyeongnam region agreed to join forces to proactively respond to the increasing child abuse cases and support abused children.
Since 2021, the Gyeongnam Office of Education has been the first in the nation to train teachers as professional instructors and has promoted child abuse prevention education visiting schools, established an early detection system for child abuse connecting individual schools, education support offices, and local Wee Centers, and provided counseling and psychological treatment for children in crisis.
It was also stated that, for the first time nationwide, five experts including child psychological treatment specialists were appointed as members of the Gyeongsangnam-do Office of Education Crisis Child Specialized Counseling and Healing Support Group, establishing a rapid response system.
Superintendent Park Jong-hoon said, "There should be adults who ask if something is wrong when a child next door is crying hard," adding, "Our entire society must take an interest in children and respect and protect children's rights."
