Slogan, 'BEGIN AGAIN' Passion Dreaming of Another World

The Geochang International Theatre Festival Organizing Committee meeting is being held.

[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Choi Soon-kyung] The Geochang Cultural Foundation in Gyeongnam announced on the 4th that it held the '32nd Geochang International Theater Festival Organizing Committee Advisory Group Meeting' at the county office's main conference room.

About 20 people attended the advisory group meeting, including County Governor Gu In-mo, Organizing Committee Chairman Park Sang-won, executives and auditors of the Geochang Cultural Foundation, and leading experts from the Korean theater community.

This year's theater festival will unfold under the slogan 'BEGIN AGAIN: Another World, Dreaming Passion,' and will be held for 15 days from July 22 in various locations around Geochang County, including Suseungdae, spreading the wings of revival and leap of the international theater festival.

The advisory group meeting proceeded with a report on the promotion direction of the 32nd Geochang International Theater Festival and the collection of opinions from the advisory group. The advisory group presented various opinions for the successful hosting of the Geochang International Theater Festival.

On this day, the advisory group members unanimously agreed that the event should be one that involves participation with local residents. They expressed the view that performances should be held not only at Geochang Suseungdae but also at other good locations in Geochang, such as Changpowon.

They also suggested that many Geochang artists participate in the international theater festival performances, and that differentiated programs are needed to make it a festival where theater artists from across the country work and mingle together.

Organizing Committee Chairman Park Sang-won said, “I will ensure that the theater festival held in beautiful Geochang does not end as just a summer theater festival by properly archiving media records so that the excitement of the festival can be felt throughout the year, and as the organizing chairman, I will prepare opening and closing works that fit the festival slogan.”

Geochang County Governor Gu In-mo said, “Last year, we tried to newly start the 31st Geochang International Theater Festival after many twists and turns, but unfortunately it was canceled due to COVID-19. This year, we will do our best so that the Geochang International Theater Festival, which has continued a tradition of over 30 years, can be held and develop into a world-class outdoor performing arts festival.”

The Geochang Cultural Foundation plans to promptly finalize the main poster contest for the international theater festival in April, recruit participating groups and short-term personnel, and start large-scale promotional activities from May.

This year, they plan to prepare various attractions and side events such as excellent performance competitions and university theater competitions, which were not promoted in the previous theater festival.
