[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Hwang Du-yeol] From the 4th to the 8th, a 5-day event, 98 students from vocational high schools in Ulsan will compete in 18 categories at the "2022 Ulsan Skills Competition."

Hosted by Ulsan City and organized by the Ulsan Skills Competition Committee, the "2022 Ulsan Skills Competition" will be held at six venues: Ulsan Technical High School, Ulsan Meister High School, Ulsan Anywon High School, Hyundai Technical High School, Ulsan Industrial High School, and Dongwon Institute of Science and Technology. A total of 157 local skilled technicians will participate in 27 categories including welding, electrical equipment, animation, casting, hair design, and baking.

Despite the impact of COVID-19, vocational high school participants have been preparing for the skills competition by establishing advanced clubs since last year and training intermittently.

Depending on the category, athletes have made various efforts to improve their skills, including receiving technical training from industry-specific professional instructors.

Participation by school is as follows: ▲ Ulsan Technical High School with 27 participants in 5 categories including casting and CNC/milling ▲ Hyundai Technical High School with 9 participants in 3 categories including welding ▲ Anywon High School with 24 participants in 2 categories including animation ▲ Ulsan Industrial High School with 15 participants in 4 categories including agricultural machinery maintenance ▲ Life Science High School with 2 participants in 2 categories including baking ▲ Beauty Arts High School with 5 participants in 2 categories including hair design ▲ Meister High School with 9 participants in 2 categories including mold making ▲ Energy High School with 4 participants in electrical equipment ▲ Technical Industrial High School with 3 participants in 2 categories including electrical control.

Winners placing first to third in each category at the competition will be exempt from the technical qualification exam for that category as stipulated by the National Technical Qualifications Act.

They will also represent Ulsan at the 57th National Skills Competition to be held in Gyeongnam in August, competing against top athletes from across the country.
