Gwangsuhoon, Gwangju City Council Preliminary Candidate, Successfully Holds 'Gangpung Camp' Opening Ceremony

[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Yoon Jamin] The opening ceremony of the ‘Gangpung Camp’ of preliminary candidate Kang Suhoon, who announced his candidacy for Gwangju Metropolitan City Council (Democratic Party of Korea, Seo-gu District 1) in the nationwide local elections on June 1, was successfully held on the 2nd.

Candidate Kang officially began his primary campaign with the opening ceremony.

From one hour before the event, various organizations and citizens visited to personally congratulate candidate Kang and took photo sessions, drawing a large crowd and creating a festive atmosphere.

Considering the COVID-19 situation, the event was conducted while complying with attendance restrictions through on-site management personnel.

Kang Suhoon, who set up his campaign office on the 2nd floor of the former Democratic Party of Korea Gwangju Metropolitan City Party headquarters at the Nongsong-dong Hi Mobile Building, presented his ‘Vision and Philosophy as a Politician Kang Suhoon,’ receiving warm applause and empathy.

He emphasized, “Until now, Gwangju has been busy following other successful cities,” and added, “In the future, Gwangju must become a leading city that proposes new agendas and leads change.”

At this event, he explained his dreams including ▲ transforming Yangdong Market, located in his constituency, into a luxury market filled with tourists from around the world ▲ regenerating Balsan Village, where female workers of Jeonnam Textile and Ilsin Textile lived, into a resource circulation hub ▲ creating a citizen autonomy village revolution in the Nongsong-dong Cherry Blossom Community ▲ turning the heartbreaking collapse site of the apartments in Hwajeong-dong into the safest city model.

Candidate Kang said, “My political dream is to become a representative politician of the Republic of Korea,” and added, “In countries where democracy started earlier, many local council members like Presidents Lincoln and Obama grew into global leaders, and I will take the first step on that path starting from Gwangju.”
