Jeju Seobu Fire Station's Fire Lieutenant Park Jaeseok Wins KBS119 Award Main Prize

[Jeju=Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Hwang Jeongpil] The Jeju Special Self-Governing Province Fire Safety Headquarters announced on the 3rd that Park Jaeseok (43), a fire lieutenant at the Western Fire Station, was selected as the recipient of the 27th KBS119 Award.

The KBS119 Award is given to firefighters who have dedicated themselves to protecting the lives and property of the public with a strong sense of duty and spirit of sacrifice at various disaster sites. The award ceremony was held on the 1st at the TV Public Hall of the KBS Headquarters in Yeouido, Seoul.

On this day, the awardee received a Fire Hero Badge imbued with the spirit of honor, trust, and dedication, along with a prize money.

Since being appointed as a firefighter in 2004, Fire Lieutenant Park has responded to over 1,300 fire and rescue incidents, rescuing 233 people, and has been active as a veteran rescue team member.

In particular, last July, when a vehicle rollover accident occurred in Yusuam-ri, Aewol-eup, he quickly rescued a trapped person using rescue equipment. In December 2020, he safely rescued a man in his 40s who fell while climbing at the rock climbing site in Musucheon Valley, Jeju City, by vertically lifting him with a basket stretcher. These efforts were recognized as dedicated to protecting the lives of the residents.

Additionally, he actively contributed to fire service development by participating as an instructor in the live fire training course during the new recruit training and serving as a review committee member in the rescue equipment sector of the Fire Equipment Deliberation Committee. He has also continuously improved his field response capabilities by acquiring professional certifications such as Level 2 Life Rescue Technician, Level 2 Fire Response Ability, Advanced Skin Scuba, and Ultralight Aircraft Pilot License.

Fire Lieutenant Park expressed his award acceptance remarks, saying, “I feel pride and fulfillment in protecting the lives of residents by responding to various disaster sites, and I will carry out my duties with even greater responsibility and pride in the future.”
