Two Projects Selected: Traditional Hanok Branding Contest and Hanok Cluster Village Tourism Resource Development
[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Yeo Jong-gu] ‘Saengbiwon’ in Goryeong-gun, Gyeongbuk, has been selected for the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism’s ‘2022 Traditional Hanok Branding
Contest Project.’
The traditional hanok branding project is a support initiative aimed at fostering traditional hanoks, which can be developed in connection with surrounding tourist resources, into Korea’s representative traditional cultural experience accommodation facilities.
With this selection, a project budget of 30 million KRW will be spent over one year to support various hanok experience activities and operations representing Korea.
Additionally, Gaesil Village in Goryeong-gun has been selected for this year’s Hanok Cluster Village Tourism Resource Development Project led by Gyeongbuk Province, and is expected to be reborn as a tourism culture village.
The Hanok Cluster Village Tourism Resource Development Project supports village maintenance along with the installation of convenience facilities for tourists, with a total project budget of 50 million KRW.
The hanok village in Gaesil is expected to be utilized as a central tourism resource that provides resting spaces for tourists and connects to surrounding tourist attractions.
Gwak Yong-hwan, the mayor of Goryeong-gun, said, “We will promote the excellence of Goryeong traditional hanoks through beautiful hanok accommodations and various cultural experiences,” adding, “We will continue to strive to develop diverse programs and create a tourism-friendly environment.”
